Born Edmund Sylvers, 25th January 1957, Memphis, Tennessee. Edmund Sylvers died on Thursday the 11th of March from lung cancer at a hospital in Richmond, Virginia, following a 10-month illness. He was 47. The family group the Sylvers recorded for Pride, MGM, Capitol, Casablanca, and Geffen during their recording career. Edmund was one of ten brothers and sisters. The Sylvers, 1972 Pride single, 'Fool's Paradise', reached number 14 on the R & B charts. They had three other Top Ten R & B hits in the '70's, with 'Hotline' being highly popular and reaching the Top Ten in 1976. The group had a Top 20 R & B single on Casablanca in 1978, 'Don't Stop, Get Off'. Edmund then left the group and recorded a solo album for the same label, entitled 'Have You Heard'. A further album, entitled 'Take Me Over', was recorded at Arista Records in the mid-1980's but was never released.
